Welcome!

Dear reader,

Thank you for being here. With EcoKin, my goal is to explore the natural world, and detail some of the ways we know its inhabitants. These details will include some hints and explanations for identifying plants, animals, and fungi; discussions of natural communities and ecology; and other thoughts on our kinship with the worlds around us.

My background is in environmental science and poetry, two fields that will undoubtedly shape EcoKin. I aim to write and depict this content clearly and simply so that you need not have any technical expertise in order to understand and participate in this blog. I will do my best to present these posts with accurate information and reliable sources, but I strongly encourage you to investigate other sources along your explorations. Please share your questions and suggestions. We are in this together.

With gratitude and affection,
Carolyn
